The Bills Due tab

Every payment due, in date order — and which ones pay themselves.

Overview

Bills Due lays the next few weeks out in date order so nothing sneaks up on you. It also marks which payments are on autopay and which ones you have to make by hand, because those are the two that get missed.

Screens

  1. Slide titled “The Bills Due screen,” explaining that you specify a payment date and whether the account is on autopay when you enter each debt, that proper setup causes the payment date and status to appear on the Bills Due screen, that items with a green check mark are set up on auto-pay, and that items with a red X require manual payment.
    Where the dates come from

Bills Due never asks you for anything new. It is assembled from two fields you fill in once when you enter a debt — the payment date and whether the account is on autopay. Fill those in honestly and this screen builds itself. A green check marks a bill that pays itself; a red X marks one you have to make happen.

  2. Slide titled “The Bills Due screen.” The DebtPath IQ Bills Due tab is headed “Next bills due — starting today, Jul 30” and lists nine upcoming payments in date order from August 1 through August 27: Wells Fargo Personal Loan $510.00, Chase Sapphire $267.00, SoFi Personal Loan $300.00, and Citi Double Cash $162.00 each with a green check in the Autopay column, then Upstart Installment Loan $317.00, Capital One Quicksilver $117.00, Speedy Cash Payday Loan $355.00, Discover it $57.00, and Best Buy Store Card $35.00 each with a red X. Every row shows the due date, the days remaining, the creditor, and the last four digits of the account. Explanatory text beside the screen notes that the list is built from the payment date and autopay setting entered with each debt, that a green check means auto-pay, and that a red X means manual payment.
    Your month, in order

Every payment ahead of you, in the order it falls due, with the days remaining counted for you. The real value sits in the red X rows — those are the ones that get missed, because no bank is going to make them for you. Here four bills draft themselves and five will not: Upstart, Capital One, Speedy Cash, Discover, and Best Buy, adding up to $881 you have to remember out of a $2,120 month. Read the list from the top and you know exactly what the next four weeks ask of you.
